This painting depicts 2 bighorn rams that just had a meeting of the minds, and are recovering from it. The painting is done with thunderheads coming over Chimney Rock in the background. Chimney rock is a prominent rocky outcrop that is located in the East Humboldt Mountains in northern Nevada. This painting was done for a donation to the Elko Chapter of the Nevada Bighorns Unlimited dinner this yeat 2014. The have been instrumental in the re-interduction of these animals to this area. The bighorns were a native animal in this area.
Hi, I'm Darcy Tate. I am a self taught artist who enjoys re-creating the beauty of the wildlife and the outdoors that I have the privilege of being able to enjoy. I spend countless hours every year watching, photographing, and enjoying my subjects in their natural habitat. Most of my research work is done in the northern Nevada backcountry. I have been drawing all of my life, and just recently got into painting. My first drawings were in pencil then and pen and ink. I then went on to drawing/painting in colored pencil. This medium is ideal for my fascination with detail but is very time consuming when creating a picture. Colored pencil takes many hours and layers of color to develop the look that I try to achieve in my pencil...
